Training Programs on the Web

If you're training for a Fall marathon, such as the New York Marathon on November 2, you'll probably begin your training program in June. Some excellent schedules can be found on the New York Marathon web site, sponsored by New York Road Runners.

More training information can be found in the Training Corner at MarathonGuide.com.

Logging Your Runs

You can use the spreadsheet on the next page to log your runs and cross-training. Follow one of the 18-week training programs listed above and compare your progress with your schedule. Read the instructions and download the log file .

Finding Other Runners

For runners or walkers who are blind or visually impaired, the best way to find other runners and guides is through the Achilles Track Club. Among their many resources is a list of local Achilles groups, where you can find runners near you.

If you're in the UK, the Royal National Institute of the Blind, RNIB, can help find a running partner and has tips on running with a guide.

Learning More

Information on how and why training works is available from Stephen Seiler at Exercise Physiology Page for the MAPP.

Bookshare.org, a resource for downloadable books, currently has 5 books on running.
